Location

The village of Braunton is home to a great range of shops, pubs and restaurants; it really does have something for everyone. As well as a village green grocers and bakery, there is a good sized supermarket in the village, and all the major supermarkets will deliver to the holiday cottage. When it comes to eating out there are traditional pubs, small restaurants, family friendly cafes and award winning takeaway restaurants all within Braunton, and there are plenty of others in the nearby towns and villages.

Braunton is also famous for its sand dune system that is known as Braunton Burrows. As the largest sand dune system in England it is of great importance and given several designations, such as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, a Site of Special Scientific Interest and Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Special Area of Conservation. Visitors can easily access the Burrows, which has a number of footpaths and it is a great place to take the dog.

If looking for a day at the beach, Saunton, Croyde and Woolacombe are all nearby and offer the perfect golden beaches to either take part in a water sport or just laze on the sands. All these beaches (except Saunton) are monitored by RNLI lifeguards from Easter through to the end of October, however, please check for seasonal operation times and for when and where dogs are permitted.

Braunton is ideally located for exploring North Devon and beyond, Exmoor National Park is less than a 30 minute drive and there are several villages and towns that are well worth a visit such as the fishing village of Appledore, the Victorian harbour town of Ilfracombe and Lynton and Lynmouth, where Exmoor meets the sea. Nearby attractions include Watermouth Castle, Exmoor Zoo, The Big Sheep, Arlington Court and Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park.
